Thanksgiving Deviled Eggs

Thanksgiving Deviled Eggs

Thanksgiving is all about comfort food, gathering around the table, and enjoying traditional dishes that bring everyone together. While turkey, stuffing, and casseroles often get the spotlight, no holiday spread feels complete without deviled eggs. These creamy, tangy, perfectly seasoned bites are the ultimate appetizer: simple to make, incredibly versatile, and always one of the first dishes to disappear.

Ingredients

  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Smoked paprika for topping
  • Optional toppings: crispy bacon bits chives, parsley, pickled jalapeños, or fried onions

Method

Step 1: Boil the Eggs
  1. Place eggs in a pot, cover them with cold water, and bring the water to a full boil. Once boiling, turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let the eggs sit for 12 minutes. This method ensures firm whites and perfectly cooked yolks without a green ring.
Step 2: Cool and Peel
  1. Transfer eggs to an ice bath for at least 10 minutes. This stops the cooking and makes peeling much easier. Gently crack and peel each egg under running water if needed.
Step 3: Prepare the Filling
  1. Slice eggs lengthwise and pop the yolks into a bowl. Mash yolks until smooth, then add mayonnaise, both mustards, vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until creamy and velvety.
Step 4: Pipe or Spoon the Filling
  1. Using a piping bag creates a beautiful, swirled finish, but a spoon works just as well. Fill each egg white half generously.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
  1. Dust lightly with smoked paprika. For a Thanksgiving touch, add crispy bacon bits, fresh herbs, or fried onions.

Notes

  • Use older eggs—about 5–7 days old—because they peel more easily.
  • Mash the filling until very smooth for a creamy texture.
  • Adjust mayo quantity for creaminess: add more for softer filling, less for firmer filling.
  • Chill deviled eggs for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to blend.
  • Use smoked paprika instead of regular for a deeper holiday flavor.
